FIRST SAND, THEN PAINTING

In addition to masking, sanding also takes quite some time. However, this preparation is essential for a good end result.

HOW MUCH SHOULD YOU SAND BEFORE PAINTING?

How long and how much you have to sand depends on the condition of the old paint layer. If the paint layer is still completely intact, you only have to sand the existing paint layer a bit. You do this with fine sandpaper. If the paint layer is bad, you will first have to sand coarsely and then with some finer sandpaper. After that, the sanding work is not finished: after priming, you go over the base layer once more with very fine sandpaper. Only then does the real painting begin.

SANDPAPER AND SANDING SPONGES

For the best sandpaper, LAB has sandpaper on a roll, sanding sponges and sandpaper for sanding machines. There are different types of sandpaper:

  • Coarse is P40-P60-P80
  • Medium is P100-P120-P150-P180
  • Fine is P220-P240-P280 and P320
