PRIMER OR UNDERCOAT FOR WOOD

If the existing paint layer is still completely intact, you only need to degrease and sand it before you can start painting. But if it is a bad surface or untreated wood, a primer is really necessary for a nice end result. Also if you are going to change color - so from dark to light - then primer ensures a better color result.

LAB WOOD PRIMER FOR OUTDOORS

Are you going to work outside with wood varnish? Then a primer will protect the wood against weather influences and moisture. LAB wood primer outside is an extremely suitable base coat for wood outside that you want to finish with LAB outside varnish. It promotes the durability and gloss retention of the subsequent layers. Indispensable for good painting!

LAB WOOD PRIMER FOR INDOORS

LAB wood primer interior is a high-quality, durable and water-based primer from the Netherlands. Covers well, is low-odor and very easy to sand. This primer ensures good adhesion and has a major positive effect on the durability of subsequent layers. The ideal start for those who want to apply LAB interior paint over wood.

For hardwoods with a lot of tannins - oak for example - a primer also helps to prevent bleeding. **Exotic wood**: For hardwoods or wood with a lot of tannins (for example oak) a primer helps to prevent bleeding.

- **Damp or outdoor wood**: Primer protects against the elements and prevents damage to the wood.

The benefits of a primer for wood:

1. **Improved adhesion**

Wood is a natural material that paint cannot adhere well without a primer. Primer ensures a good bond between the wood and the finish.

2. **Protection of the wood**

Primer prevents moisture from penetrating the wood, which can cause warping, mold or wood rot.

3. **Leveling the surface**

Primer fills in small grains and imperfections in the wood, making the surface smoother and requiring less paint.

4. **Prevents breakdown**

Untreated wood can release tannins (resins and oils) and stains that become visible in the paint layer. Primer prevents this problem.

5. **Better color coverage**

A primer provides a neutral base, which ensures a more even and better covering end result, especially when going from a dark to a light colour.

Nowadays you can have primer mixed in color, which is much easier.'
